New Testament Backgrounds
Description
This 8-day intensive course will immerse students in the history and literature of the Second Temple period (ca. 538 BC to AD 135) of Jewish history. Students will read portions from Josephus, the Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha, the Dead Sea Scrolls, and Philo. Lectures, class discussions, and assignments will emphasize how this background illuminates our understanding of specific New Testament passages and concepts.

Schedule: Class meets 8:30–12:30 from Monday–Friday of week one and Monday–Wednesday of week two.
Location: Leola, PA
Reading and assignments require significant outside-of-class time.
Note: Max class size of 10 to facilitate good discussion. Priority will be given to alumni of the "Understanding the Biblical Storyline" class.
